Phase 1 - January 2007 until March 2008
In October 2005, the Minister for Health and Community Care took
part in the launch of the World Health Organization's (WHO) Global
Patient Safety Challenge "Clean Care is Safer Care"
programme. At the event, the Minister pledged to continue
work to tackle healthcare associated infection (HAI) and to launch
a national Hand Hygiene Campaign involving NHSScotland and the
general public to highlight the health benefits of good hand
hygiene.
In June 2006, Health Protection Scotland (HPS) were asked on
behalf of the then Scottish Executive Health Department (SEHD, now
referred to as Scottish Government Health Directorate (SGHD)) to
project manage the delivery of a national Hand Hygiene Campaign
across Scotland.
